Kris Sumey, CSEP, Owner, Creative Director

Walt Disney once said, “ I don’t want the public to see the world they live in while they’re in the Park (Disneyland). I want them to feel like they’re in another world.”… That’s her wish for all the guests who enter an event that Kris touches. Guests should be transcended into the heart of the event. Every client puts so much time and thought into their ideas, dreams, wishes, or objectives. Guests should feel all of that heart and soul the second their event experience begins.

When it comes to telling a story through décor, lighting, and audio visual elements at LIVE events, planning lavish parties or society weddings with discretion and style, Kris is the “go to” guru of it all.

She is a passionate believer in harnessing the power of creative ideas to produce spectacular special events. She has a unique and diverse skill set cultivated over the past twenty years that bridges the gaps between design, décor, management, and technical production. Her gregarious personality, endless ideas and resources makes her and her team the perfect partner.

A natural problem solver and researcher at heart, she designs an environment that tells a story through the clients’ eyes making every event a signature event.

Kris holds a Paralegal degree, a Certificate in Meeting Management from Temple University and is a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP). Her specialty lies in creating extraordinary temporary environments and producing successful last minute events most would shy away from. Her passion for special events has earned her multiple awards for Best Event Design and Best Event Décor from the International LIVE Events Association (ILEA) as well as the J. Robert Graves Award.

Kris has served as President of both the South Jersey and Greater Philadelphia chapters of ILEA and served on the Board of Directors for over a decade for the Philadelphia Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (PAMPI).

Randy Sumey, President, Production Director

Randy takes part in all developmental "behind the scenes" stages of the production phase. He works closely with each venue to coordinate a seamless production experience and transparent flow of information, allowing for smooth load in and out, efficient use of power, safe and professional installation and all labor and rigging elements.

With over fifteen years of expertise of event production in all types of venues ranging from five-star hotels to private estates, Randy leads the teams that bring Event FX’s services to life. Randy’s technical knowledge is infused at both the planning and production stages, ensuring that each event is well executed with all logistical and technical components in mind.

Keith Coleman, Production Manager

Keith began his career in the special events industry over 20 years ago. His passion for lighting and technical production led him to become proficient in all aspects of conventional fixtures, moving lights, LED lighting fixtures, and programming.

As a certified rigger, certified lift operator, and electrician, Keith is skilled in all facets of power distribution with both house power and generators.

Keith is a graduate of St. Joe’s Prep High School and College of Charleston in Carolina where his basketball career earned him a title in the U.S. Nationals and Tel Aviv for over two years until an injury forced him off the courts.

Keith hits the basketball court and enjoys a nice tequila when he's not producing spectacular events.

Bruce Konefsky, Chief Fabricator, Branding Guru

Growing up in the event business, Bruce was immersed starting first in the music business with his father Jerry Karol and his Orchestras up until the launch of The Theme Factory in 1978 (the age of 13).

Fate had made its choice as he began his career in theatre in High school and continued until he achieved his degree from Temple University’s School of Communications and Theatre focusing on Stage Management, Set Design and Lighting Design. Freelancing in the theatre scene (no pun intended) for a few years as a Props Master and Scenic designer while he still dabbled in the family business he decided to come back home permanently to help with the family business, The Theme Factory. Here he grew his craft and expanded his training in design to include Event Design and Production, Signage and Branding as well as Exhibitry and Display. His skillset includes but is not limited to sculpting, mold making, casting, wood working, metal working and faux finishing.

Notable Projects include, The Phila. Zoo’s Safari Quest Experience, Johnstown Flood Museum, Coney Island Aquarium-“Sea Cliffs Exhibit”, Miles of Mules and Hopewell Valley’s Oxen Stampede Community Art Projects.

When not in the design studio, Bruce enjoys being a part of the local music scene being a drummer for his own band Blue Romeo, Party Machine Dance Band plus other various fill-in projects.

When Mr. Walker is not designing, he is actively involved with his philanthropic work throughout the community.
In his church, as the founder of a development group for young men, entitiled: "Boyz 2 Men", Mr. Walker works along with his youth, serving as a positive role model and mentor. Mr. Walker's work extends into the community as a correspondent within the Philadelphia Community Youth Court as he actively works as an advocate with youth through peer restorative dispositions as an alternative to them receiving the typical punitive practice, therefore working to eradicate and derail the school to prison pipeline.

Through his second foundation, he annually hosts a remarkable Toy Drive which donates toys to various shelters and dispersed families.

In his leisure, he enjoys quality time with his family, cooking, line dancing and a good karaoke session.
